Job Overview

Martin Concrete is seeking a highly skilled Field Operations Manager to oversee all field operations and ensure the successful execution of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead a team to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage all field operations, ensuring safety, production, quality, and other production-related activities are effectively coordinated and meet project specifications.
  • Work closely with project Superintendents to ensure project construction is effectively coordinated, meets specifications, and remains on schedule.
  • Manage productivity, labor, and material costs based on budget and job costs, with bi-weekly meetings with Project Executives or Project Managers.
  • Manage manpower needs in the area, shifting resources as needed, and working with other area managers to address manpower needs.
  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents, acting as an arbitrator for disputes and ensuring a positive working relationship with customers, employees, and vendors.
  • Work with the Director of Safety to ensure safety culture directives are being implemented for each project, conducting bi-weekly written safety observations and bringing them to the operations meeting.
  • Collect and analyze 2-week look-ahead information from Superintendents and work with the Finishing/Division Manager on finishing schedules.
  • Develop relationships with General Contractor Superintendents and facilitate relationships between Martin Superintendents and GC Superintendents.
  • Coordinate equipment within the area and with other areas, including cranes, and oversee job costs to ensure outcomes.
  • Be the line of defense and problem solver for issues higher than Superintendent level, working with the Director of Field Operations to identify headcount increases/decreases needs.
  • Attend various meetings, including preconstruction, kick-off, pre-pour, operations meetings, and ensure pre-pour checklists are being completed by project managers and superintendents.
  • Ensure conversations are being held at the end of each workday between superintendents and project managers about daily jobsite activity.
  • Manage internal training programs, ensuring two people are being trained for targeted job responsibilities at all times, and hold regular meetings with superintendents in your area to ensure consistency in operating procedures.
Requirements
  • 5+ years' experience as a Superintendent in commercial, industrial, tilt-up, or multi-story construction.
  • Notable knowledge and skills for the technical aspect of concrete construction.
  • Proven ability to read and understand drawings.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with customers, employees, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA Certification.
  • TCA or ACI Certification.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
