Railroad Field Engineer

As a Field Engineer for Railroad Construction, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of our projects. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing schedule input and preparing field work packages.
- Compiling as-built data and verifying installation quantities.
- Performing field safety and quality inspections.
- Coordinating with Document Control to ensure proper documentation.
- Assisting the Superintendent with material deliveries and field verifications.
- Working closely with document control and field personnel to ensure they have the latest drawings and installation documents.
- Providing schedule update information to the project scheduler.
- Ensuring that work is correctly cost-coded and all extra work is coded to separate cost codes as assigned by the Project Engineer or other.
- Updating drawings with redlines of as-built information.
- Attending necessary briefings and safety meetings as required.
- Attaining necessary job-specific training and maintaining annual requirements.
Qualifications:
- Construction Engineering or equivalent work experience in a construction-related position.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- AutoCAD skills a plus, with training provided as needed.
- Construction management course work or internship experience a plus.
- Must be flexible in working in both office and field environments as needed.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with a team.
- Must have strong organization skills.
- Must be highly motivated.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
Physical Requirements:
- Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
- Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
- Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
- Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
- Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
- Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by position.
- Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
