APP Psychiatry and Mental Health Fellowship

The Medical College of Wisconsin's APP Psychiatry and Mental Health Fellowship is a 12-month immersive program focused on mental health for underserved populations in a community-based setting. This program supports Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in developing proficient clinical decision-making and applying specialized skills in patient care through in-person didactics and mentored clinical experiences.

This program provides specialty health care services within a defined scope of practice, in collaboration with a licensed psychiatrist and in accordance with MCW/FMLH policies and procedures. The Fellowship is an academic clinical partnership between the Medical College of Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, and University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, and other affiliates.

Trainees gain interdisciplinary team-based experiences across the life span, including core clinical rotations in ambulatory settings, elective rotations in specialized ambulatory settings, and didactic experiences. Key features of this program include:

  • 12-month residency in mental health focusing on underserved populations
  • Interdisciplinary team-based experiences across the life span

  • Elective rotations in specialized ambulatory settings
