Job Summary:

The Store Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations, including sales, customer service, staff management, inventory control, and staff development. They play a key role in creating a positive shopping experience for customers, maximizing sales and profitability, and leading a team of employees to achieve business objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Direction: Provide leadership and direction to store staff, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Sales and Profitability: Execute strategies to drive sales, increase foot traffic, and maximize profitability, including analyzing sales data and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain proper product flow to maximize sales floor inventory and minimize merchandise in the back room.
  • Expense Management: Monitor and manage store expenses, budgets, including sales revenue, profit margins, and operating costs, to achieve goals and targets.
  • Store Environment: Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment, including merchandise displays, signage, and layout, to enhance the customer shopping experience and drive sales.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding inventory management, loss prevention, safety, and security, and take corrective action as needed to address issues and mitigate risks.
  • Merchandising Strategies: Execute effective merchandising strategies, including product placement, pricing, promotions, and seasonal displays, to optimize sales and inventory turnover.
  • Team Culture: Foster a positive work culture and environment by promoting teamwork, communication, and employee engagement.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the district manager to execute company initiatives, policies, and programs, and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Communication and Training: Conduct regular store meetings, performance reviews, and training sessions to communicate goals, expectations, and updates, and ensure that staff are informed and motivated.
  • Customer Service: Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service, resolving escalated customer issues, and handling challenging situations with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Complete any additional tasks provided by the district manager.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Previous experience in retail management.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to build relationships and interact effectively with customers and staff.
  • Leadership and Management: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and develop a team of employees to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Business Acumen: Proven track record of driving sales and achieving financial targets, with a solid understanding of retail metrics, KPIs, and financial analysis.
  • Operational Knowledge: Strong knowledge of retail operations, including inventory management, merchandising, sales techniques, and customer service.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications, including point-of-sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Reliability and Flexibility: Reliable transportation and flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate store operating hours and business needs.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended hours, up to entire shift, frequently lift items over 50 pounds, and pass a background check.
