Position Overview

The Risk Management Analyst operates both independently and collaboratively with the Risk Management team, medical center personnel, and physician leaders. A vital aspect of this role involves fostering strong, strategic partnerships throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

The Analyst will offer risk management guidance across multiple domains, such as:

  • Informed consent processes
  • Mandatory reporting obligations
  • Management of patient, family, and visitor interactions
  • Threat assessment and management
  • Medication oversight
  • Handling adverse events
  • Addressing patient complaints and grievances
  • Responding to Medical and Nursing Board inquiries
  • Ensuring privacy and confidentiality
  • Managing surgical complications
  • Disclosure of adverse incidents
  • Overseeing discharge processes and care discontinuation
  • Media interaction and policy development

The incumbent will assist physicians in minimizing patient risk by guiding them through retrospective analyses following adverse events or claims, as well as leading projects and problem-solving initiatives.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure:

  • Valid California Nursing license and/or California law degree required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in a large hospital risk management, quality assurance, or claims management program, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated authority and responsibility in a comparable organization with similar scope and complexity.
