Job Description

Apple is seeking a highly skilled Thin Film Engineer to design and develop PVD equipment and processes for advanced technology development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in thin film deposition and characterization techniques, as well as experience working in a multi-functional team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop PVD equipment and processes for advanced technology development
  • Develop and simulate production-intent manufacturing processes on pilot scale equipment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process integration and technology transfer
  • Travel as required to achieve effective technology transfer and production line readiness
Requirements
  • BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
  • Experience in thin film deposition in one of the following industries: semiconductor, thin film display, thin film solar, optical coatings or related industry
  • Experience with thin film characterization techniques
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international travel, up to 20%)
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD or MS in material science, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields
  • Experience in deposition of metal and oxide thin films using a range of power configurations (DC, AC, RF)
  • Familiarity with in-line and drum coating tool architectures
  • Experience collaborating with Mechanical Engineering/Design and Operations
  • Experience managing key vendor relationships and complex production requirements
