Key Responsibilities- Manage the Maintenance Department: Oversee the daily activities of maintenance technicians to ensure that maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Coordinate with Production and Engineering Teams: Work closely with production and engineering management to prioritize daily work activities and achieve production and maintenance objectives.
- Provide Training and Development: Train maintenance technicians on repairs and maintenance of production equipment, as well as overall system operation and troubleshooting.
- Lead Routine Inspections: Conduct routine, periodic, and special inspections to identify repairs needed or corrective actions to prevent breakdowns, unsafe conditions, or non-compliance with company and/or agency rules and regulations.
- Improve Production Equipment Change-Over: Improve production equipment change-over as dictated by schedule or requested by shift supervisor to best meet departmental objectives.
- Interpret Blueprints and Equipment Manuals: Interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, layouts, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate maintenance and repairs.
- Support Documentation and Communication: Support the preparation of documentation regarding preventive maintenance and machine operation through effective communication and collaboration with engineering.
- Set Up and Operate Equipment: Set up and operate all equipment needed to perform assigned tasks.
- Escorts and Assist Outside Repair Persons: Escort and assist outside repair persons in the performance of their contractual obligations.
- Maintain Records and Inventory: Maintain accurate records, keep inventory of spare parts and shop materials, and order necessary supplies to effect proper repairs on all equipment.
- Provide Floor Presence: Provide floor presence on all shifts to ensure proper response to manufacturing issues.
- Assist with Production Goals and Initiatives: Function as a key member of both the production and maintenance team, assisting as necessary to accomplish production goals and throughput initiatives.
- Implement Safety Improvements: Responsible for implementing any safety improvements required by the engineering team.
- Directly Manage Employees: Directly manage employees in production maintenance, carrying out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Interview, Hire, and Train Employees: Interview, hire, and train employees, as well as plan, assign, and direct work.
- Appraise Performance: Appraise employee performance, reward and discipline employees, address complaints, and resolve problems.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering: A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
- 5+ Years of Supervisory Experience: 5+ years of supervisory or management experience in maintenance management is required.
- Hands-on Electro-Mechanical Repair Experience: Hands-on experience in electro-mechanical repair, rebuild, and field service is required.
- Computer Applications: Skill in using computer applications, including spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
- Formal Preventive Maintenance Program: Familiarity with a formal preventive maintenance program.
- Effective Communication and Coaching: Ability to effectively communicate and coach employee performance.
- Pneumatic and Electromechanical Equipment Design: Knowledgeable in pneumatic and electromechanical equipment design methodologies and fundamental operations.
- Inventory Control and Asset Management: Knowledge of inventory control and asset management, including spare part list development, preventive maintenance, and SOPs pertaining to asset acquisition, validation, calibration, and retirement.
