Key Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a designated group of patients over a specified timeframe. The RN delivers care through therapeutic engagement, the nursing process, and collaboration with other healthcare team members. The RN is expected to perform duties in accordance with established care standards and the core values of the Division of Nursing, reporting to the assigned Unit Director.
Essential Duties:
Standards of Care
- Conducts ongoing and systematic assessments/data collection, focusing on the physiological, psychological, and cognitive status of patients.
- Analyzes assessment data to determine appropriate nursing diagnoses.
- Identifies expected outcomes tailored to each patient.
- Develops a goal-directed plan of care, prioritizing based on nursing diagnoses and patient outcomes.
- Recognizes patient and significant other learning needs and implements suitable measures.
- Delivers care consistently and knowledgeably.
- Maintains timely, accurate, and concise documentation in patient records.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of care provided by self and other healthcare team members.
Professional Performance
- Maintains awareness of safety issues within the institution.
- Acts efficiently in emergency situations, adhering to established protocols.
- Demonstrates a solid knowledge base in care and decision-making for designated patient populations.
- Adheres to all Medical Center and Division of Nursing policies and procedures.
- Incorporates hourly rounding into daily practice.

Qualifications:
Current New York State nursing licensure or limited permit. Excellent communication and writing skills are essential.
Physical Demands:
This position requires considerable physical effort, including lifting, pulling, pushing, and moving patients of various sizes and capabilities. The RN is expected to be on their feet for extended periods.
