Job Summary

The Library Technician provides technical support and customer assistance in an operational unit or section of a university library. Utilizing library automation systems, software packages, and office equipment, the successful candidate will exercise judgment in interpreting and applying library practices, rules, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patrons in accessing information resources and providing basic instruction on the use of online library databases
  • Support faculty, students, and staff in locating research materials
  • Provide administrative support and data entry for record keeping, financial operations, and online access to library resources
  • Promote a welcoming environment to support discovery and champion the university's mission
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of library experience; OR associate's degree or higher and some library experience
  • Knowledge of library organization and use of library cataloging and information systems
  • Basic reference skills and working knowledge of standard office software applications, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience with medical terminology
