We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Science Manager to join our team at the Texas Department of Public Safety. As a key member of our forensic science division, you will be responsible for overseeing the analysis of DNA evidence and ensuring the highest level of quality and accuracy in our laboratory results.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and supervise a team of forensic scientists and analysts in the DNA analysis section.
- Oversee the receipt, analysis, and reporting of DNA evidence in support of criminal investigations.
- Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to provide expert testimony and support in the analysis of DNA evidence.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and advancements in DNA analysis and forensic science.
- Master's degree in a relevant field such as forensic science, biology, or chemistry.
- At least 4 years of experience in a forensic laboratory, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of DNA analysis and forensic science principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
- Experience with DNA analysis software and equipment.
- Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance procedures in a forensic laboratory setting.
- Experience with expert testimony and court proceedings.
The selected candidate will be required to work in a laboratory setting and may be required to travel to testify in court or attend training and conferences.
