Financial Accounting Educator

Position Overview

The College of Southern Idaho is seeking a dedicated educator in the Business & Information Systems Department to instruct a comprehensive array of introductory courses in financial and managerial accounting. The ideal candidate will engage students in both online and traditional classroom settings, ensuring a robust learning experience. Additionally, the instructor may cover other subjects such as business communication or foundational business principles.

Responsibilities:

- Deliver a minimum load of semester credit hours in alignment with the course descriptions outlined in the institution's catalog.

- Commit to a minimum of 37.5 hours weekly, maintaining office hours as per college policy, and promptly reporting any employment-related concerns to the supervisor.

- Develop and implement assessment measures to evaluate student outcomes.

- Actively participate in departmental, program-level, and institutional assessment initiatives.

- Ensure timely attendance at all scheduled classes, with any deviations documented through the appropriate channels.

- Provide updated course syllabi to the department chair each semester.

- Monitor student enrollment and progress, maintaining accurate academic records.

- Engage with and advise students to support their academic journey.

- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness.

- Engage in instructional evaluation processes.

- Attend departmental and committee meetings as required.

- Collaborate with fellow faculty members to recommend suitable textbooks.

- Support and promote learning assistance services.

- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

- A Master's degree in Business or Accounting from an accredited institution, or a Bachelor's degree in the same fields with a CPA designation, or a closely related discipline.

- Candidates claiming equivalent qualifications must provide substantial evidence of meeting the minimum qualifications for the position.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience or coursework in teaching business-related subjects, particularly in accounting.

- Professional experience in the business sector, especially in accounting roles.

- Familiarity with diverse teaching methodologies, including lectures, group activities, individual instruction, and online education.

- Ability to inspire enthusiasm for learning in business courses across various levels.

- Experience with assessment of educational outcomes.

- Proficient communication skills in both oral and written English.

- Awareness and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students.

- Commitment to ongoing professional development through participation in relevant organizations.

- Ability to foster positive and professional relationships with students and colleagues.

- Experience in integrating technology into teaching and implementing online learning strategies.

- Capability to advise students effectively.

Working Environment:

- Utilization of computers in multimedia classroom settings across the campus.

- Comfort with online educational platforms and technologies.
