Position Overview

RAYUS Radiology is seeking a PRN Nuclear Medicine Technologist to enhance our dedicated team. We are redefining the landscape of radiology, establishing it as a vital initial step in accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. Be a part of our mission to elevate patient care.

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, your role will encompass executing all Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography (PET/CT) procedures in accordance with established standards and protocols, ensuring exceptional patient care. You will also be encouraged to pursue ongoing education and stay informed about advancements in the field, including emerging procedures and diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

(75%) Patient Imaging:

  • Conducts routine and advanced PET/CT procedures on specified body areas to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patient conditions with minimal supervision.
  • Evaluates patients prior to procedures for any necessary precautions or contraindications.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, explaining the PET/CT procedures, positioning them correctly for optimal scanning, and providing reassurance throughout the process.
  • Adjusts scanning parameters as required, employing dose reduction techniques when appropriate.
  • Maintains a positive rapport with radiologists, referring professionals, and colleagues.
  • Assesses, prepares, documents, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission and state regulations.
  • Administers fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) intravenously to patients.
  • Exhibits knowledge of safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment, integral to quality patient care.
  • Reports any contamination incidents to the Radiation Safety Officer.
  • Maintains accurate patient records within the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Ensures compliance with ACR toolkit and accreditation standards.

(20%) Imaging Support:

  • Performs routine maintenance on PET/CT scanners and mobile units.
  • Conducts and documents daily quality control checks on equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Implements daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly quality control measures on PET/CT equipment to adhere to ACR and AOA guidelines.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues when feasible and escalates problems to the supervisor.
  • Conducts departmental surveys to ensure compliance with radiation safety standards set by the department and regulatory bodies.

(5%) Additional Duties:
