About the Role

The Food Service Worker at Onslow Memorial Hospital may work in various areas where food is prepared or served. This individual will assist in setting up and serving food from counters and steam tables. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing equipment and workstations. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but the manager may identify other responsibilities of the position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the overall process of patient and cafeteria meal service, including preparation, assembly, service, delivery, and pick-up.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, staff, and guests to ensure accuracy and timelines of patient meal trays and floor stock.
  • Participate in the overall process of catering and special function meal service.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and workstations.
  • Use equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new employees.
  • Perform any or all duties of the kitchen, tray line, patient room service program, cafeteria, and dish room as required by staffing.
  • Assist in collecting data for improvement of organizational performance and quality control indicators as assigned.

Requirements

Education/Certification:

A high school education, with a graduate degree preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of one year of experience in a commercial food preparation and service function, preferably in a healthcare institution.
