Position Overview

The Vision Care Specialist will perform comprehensive eye examinations for AEG Vision and aim to utilize their professional skills to the fullest extent. This role is pivotal in fostering practice development by building strong patient relationships and providing essential education regarding eye health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough eye examinations
  • Develop long-lasting patient relationships through exemplary care and education
  • Engage in a detailed discussion with patients prior to the examination to gather health and ocular history, medical concerns, and their visual needs
  • Guide, recommend, and inform patients about their options for addressing refractive errors, systemic and ocular conditions, as well as their visual preferences. Collaborate with support staff for a comprehensive patient recap
  • Foster patient loyalty and advocate for the profession of Optometry while embodying AEG Vision's core values
  • Administer vision assessments and interpret results
  • Identify vision issues, including myopia or hyperopia, and diagnose eye conditions
  • Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, and necessary medications
  • Advise on or provide treatments such as vision therapy or rehabilitation for low vision (specific to brands)
  • Deliver pre- and postoperative care for patients undergoing ocular surgeries, such as post-operative evaluations following cataract or refractive procedures
  • Assess patients for diseases like diabetes and ensure timely referrals to other healthcare professionals
  • Promote ocular health by counseling patients on proper lens care, the importance of regular eye examinations, and effectively communicating with opticians and sales staff regarding optimal lens recommendations utilizing the latest technology

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Optometry from an accredited institution
  • Successful completion of all state board examinations for optometry
