The Minnesota Council of Nonprofits is in search of a dedicated full-time Employment Support Specialist to assist adults with developmental challenges in securing independent job opportunities within various community enterprises.

This role involves providing coaching assistance to individuals employed by local businesses, as well as conducting personalized job searches to help them find suitable employment in the community.

Additionally, the Employment Support Specialist will offer coverage for colleagues during their absences and manage work-related conflicts as they arise.

In this position, you will maintain a caseload, participate in intake sessions and annual reviews, complete necessary documentation, and collaborate with the individuals served and their support networks to ensure a person-centered approach to planning and services.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:
Work directly with individuals in community settings, including volunteer opportunities and self-advocacy initiatives.
Support individuals at their job sites and assist job seekers with tailored job development and placement strategies.
Identify, document, and implement personalized goals for individuals.
Develop and uphold person-centered objectives and outcomes.
Coordinate efforts with individuals' support teams.

Assist individuals in acquiring skills necessary for job retention and foster the development of natural workplace supports.

Guide individuals through the job application process, including resume and cover letter creation.
Serve as a positive role model for participants in all aspects of professional conduct.
Engage in job development activities and conduct job searches for the individuals we support.
Communicate with businesses regarding available job openings.
Provide coverage for team members during their absence.

Qualifications:


A four-year degree in human services or a related field; or a two-year degree in human services or a related field combined with two years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience working with individuals with disabilities is essential.
Experience supporting individuals with Autism is preferred.
Familiarity with assistive technology for communication is beneficial.
Prior experience managing a caseload and coordinating with support teams is advantageous.
Experience in customized employment and vocational rehabilitation services is a plus.

Candidates must successfully complete a background check and possess a valid driver's license with proof of insurance and reliable transportation for work-related travel.
