Job Overview

Impulse Space is seeking a highly skilled Test and Automation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing software and supporting tests for various devices, from engine components to entire vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deploy data acquisition and control system software in support of liquid rocket propulsion and spacecraft systems testing
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements for data acquisition and control
  • Improve the user experience of interfacing with the software
  • Develop drivers for instruments and devices to integrate with our LabVIEW software framework
  • Invest in and utilize a common software stack across test programs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field
  • 2+ years of experience writing software (Python, LabVIEW, C/C++, or other relevant languages)
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW
  • Experience with source control tools, such as git
  • Relentless curiosity and a desire to learn
  • Demonstrated ability to take project ownership and work well in small teams
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing a data acquisition and control system using LabVIEW
  • Experience writing software to control instruments such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Experience working with NI hardware and/or Beckhoff hardware
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented best practices, such as SOLID
  • Experience working with actor-oriented software frameworks, such as the LabVIEW frameworks DQMH, Workers, or Actor Framework
  • Proficiency with Linux
  • Experience in a startup or agile development environment
  • Experience safely operating hazardous systems (high voltage, high pressure, etc)
