Senior Automation and Controls Engineer

Impulse Space is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation and Controls Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Propulsion Engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and commissioning industrial machinery and systems for R&D, test, and production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own all aspects of equipment design from concept to commissioning
  • Generate necessary schematics and documentation for electrical and fluid systems
  • Architect, write, and debug software for PLCs in TwinCAT
  • Select and program various industrial controls hardware
  • Develop HMIs that are easy to use and functional
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field
  • 5+ years of professional work in a relevant field (manufacturing/test/R&D)
  • 4+ years demonstrated experience working with PLC systems
  • 4+ years demonstrated experience working on control systems/industrial machines
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience working on industrial safety systems
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Object-oriented programming in structured text per IEC
  • Schematic design with EPlan
  • Control panel design with EPlan ProPanel
  • Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems
  • Understanding of ISO 13849, ANSI B11, or IEC 61508 safety standards
