Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Fiscal Policy Analyst to join our team at the City and County of San Francisco. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing detailed analysis of complex departmental budgets, building and maintaining relationships with departments and stakeholders, and preparing and presenting policy and budget recommendations to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze annual budget submissions of city departments
  • Prepare and present policy and budget recommendations
  • Monitor department spending and hiring over the course of the year
  • Act as key contact for budget, policy, and program matters between the Mayor's Office and city departments

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical, quantitative, writing and verbal skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with a variety of individuals
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Advanced degree (MA, MPP, MPA) in public policy or related field, or 3-5 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in public policy, public finance, and/or budgeting
  • Familiarity with San Francisco Bay Area and/or local resident
