The Oak View Group is seeking a highly skilled Ice Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the ice surface at UBS Arena. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of ice rink operations, facility maintenance, and Olympia ice resurfacer operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ice Surface Management: Maintain a NHL quality ice sheet, ensuring it meets the highest standards for games and practices.
  • Facility Monitoring: Continuously monitor the conditions of the facility, including temperature and humidity levels, to ensure optimal ice surface conditions.
  • Log Book Maintenance: Maintain a log book to track facility temperature and humidity conditions.
  • Collaboration with Building Trades: Work with all building trades to ensure the ice surface is in optimum playing condition.
  • Supply Management: Maintain a checklist of supplies for any component of the ice that may need attention.
  • Day-to-Day Operations: Run day-to-day ice operations at UBS Arena during hockey season.
  • Ice Sheet Installation and Maintenance: Install and maintain an NHL quality ice sheet and painting/logos.
  • Event Setup and Breakdown: Oversee the setup and breakdown of events, including non-hockey events.
  • Staff Management: Schedule and manage NHL/Islanders game day related staff, including ice crew, drivers, and shovelers.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain Olympia ice resurfacers and related equipment and systems.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience managing the operations for an ice rink or multipurpose facility.
  • Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of ice rink operations, facility maintenance, Olympia ice resurfacer operation, and a general understanding of ice rink refrigeration systems and safety practices.
  • Certification: Successfully complete the US Ice Rinks and Certified Ice Technician Program.
  • Driving Experience: 3-5 years of experience driving ice resurfacing machines for an NHL team.
  • Adaptability: Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
  • Organizational Skills: Organized and detail-oriented, resourceful, quick learner, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal Arena Operations staff as well as event-related and promoter personnel.
