About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Improvement Specialist to join our clinical operations team at UofL Health – Jewish Hospital. This role is a full-time position, working first shift.

Job Summary

The Quality Improvement Specialist will utilize advanced skills in quality assessment to develop and implement comprehensive quality of care and patient safety standards. Key responsibilities include collecting and analyzing benchmarking data, facilitating education, and ensuring loop closure on action plans. The specialist will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to evaluate the effectiveness of care and develop policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately abstracts data from medical records, including sepsis and cardiac-related registries.
  • Develops and assists others in developing action plans for process improvement and ensures follow-through and loop closure.
  • Collaborates with physician chairs, nursing directors, and executive directors to evaluate the effectiveness and appropriateness of care and develop policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates identification and documentation of hospital-based approved performance improvement variances and complications.
  • Analyzes Vizient and other program-identified mortality and complications data to identify areas for improvement, education, and safety improvement activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing or other healthcare-related field preferred.
  • Minimum five years of acute care experience in area of intended practice.
  • Previous experience in academic teaching hospital setting preferred.
Estimated Salary Range:

$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
