Job Title: Substation Equipment Specialist

Orange & Rockland is seeking a highly skilled Substation Equipment Specialist to join our collaborative engineering culture. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing small to large projects, providing technical expertise, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our substation equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review electrical equipment specifications, technical analysis of bid proposals, and review of manufacturers' designs and drawings.
  • Conduct field investigations, prepare associated reports, and provide technical guidance to resolve system and equipment problems.
  • Interface with equipment manufacturers, industry standards, and R&D organizations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform vendor qualification activities, approve equipment suitable for our transmission and area substations, and conduct field evaluation/analysis of field equipment or system misoperation.
  • Prepare test procedures for equipment commissioning or post-repair restoration and participate in the Company's Emergency Response Plan.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and 3-5 years of total work experience in development and application of technical principles in substation equipment rating, application, specification, engineering, operation, and maintenance.
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 2 years of total work experience in development and application of technical principles in substation equipment rating, application, specification, engineering, operation, and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards associated with the equipment.
  • Ability to interpret layout, one-line, and schematic drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical, technical, and computer skills.
