Substation Equipment Engineer Opportunity

Insight Global is seeking a skilled Substation Equipment Engineer to join their team in Spring Valley, NY.

This role offers diverse experiences, managing projects of varying sizes and complexity. Under the supervision of the Senior Electrical Engineer or Manager of Transmission and Substation Engineering, the engineer will handle engineering design, problem analysis, planning, field investigations, and report preparation.

The engineer will participate in committees and represent the company at industry meetings, responsible for specifying, purchasing, constructing, and maintaining major substation electrical equipment, including HV and MV circuit breakers, power transformers, and GIS.

Key responsibilities include preparing specifications, analyzing bids, reviewing designs, inspecting equipment, and providing technical support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance.

The role also involves updating project progress and budgets, developing equipment health indices, interfacing with manufacturers, conducting field evaluations, and participating in the company's Emergency Response Plan.

Requirements
  • BSEE with 3-5 years in substation equipment engineering or MSEE with 2 years
  • Knowledge of codes, standards, and substation layout
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings
  • Strong communication, analytical, and technical skills
  • Proficiency with IEEE/ANSI Standards and National Electrical Safety Code
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Effective presentation skills
