Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Administer oxygen therapy and medications as prescribed by physicians
  • Complete clinical reminders and consults as indicated
  • Ensure medications and supplies are not expired and removed from inventory
  • Accurately perform delegated procedures and treatments
  • Assist with minor procedures, including obtaining and arranging necessary equipment, positioning patients, and ensuring comfort and privacy
  • Collect and document patient data, including vital signs and lab results
  • Provide patient and family education on health coaching, self-management, prevention, and wellness
  • Assist with medication reconciliation and notify providers of changes
  • Measure and document patient vital signs and enter them into the electronic medical record
  • Apply skin tests and measure and document results
  • Perform visual acuity tests and monofilament exams
  • Close encounters daily and check the crash cart and AED per facility policy
  • Complete the blood glucose meter check daily, as applicable
Requirements
  • Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing
  • Full, active, current, and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or District of Columbia
  • English language proficiency
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Outpatient experience
Working Conditions

This position requires heavy lifting, carrying, straight pulling, and pushing, as well as the ability to stand for long periods. The selected candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
