Role Summary:

The Junior Analyst in Retail Operations will be an integral part of the Retail Billing Operations team, focusing on the efficient processing, quality assurance, and timely execution of customer order transactions, account management, and monthly billing cycles. This role demands a proactive individual with strong analytical, process management, and technical skills to enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the electricity and gas service lifecycles from contract initiation through to fulfillment and final account processing.
  • Operate within NRG's internal Customer Management Systems.
  • Execute daily operational tasks related to the transmission and reception of electronic transactions between NRG and its vendors/utilities.
  • Address transaction and/or billing discrepancies within established service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Translate data into various formats, including Excel, for analytical purposes.
  • Identify issues through reporting methods to ensure compliance with internal and external SLAs regarding transaction and billing accuracy and timeliness.
  • Resolve issues promptly or escalate as necessary.
  • Employ root-cause analysis to propose solutions for exceptions, errors, and process inefficiencies.
  • Utilize software, analytical tools, and knowledge of the retail energy market to investigate and analyze complex business challenges.
  • Contribute to the execution and implementation of new business and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for inquiries related to transactions and billing.
  • Create detailed process documentation for training and reference purposes.
  • Provide training as necessary for both internal and interdepartmental staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong critical thinking skills to devise solutions for complex business challenges.
  • Proficiency in Excel and foundational knowledge of SQL.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Operations or Back Office roles.
  • Experience within a large corporate environment is essential.
