Role Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated RN-PACU nurse to provide exceptional care for patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring that patients transition safely from anesthesia to full consciousness.

The PACU is designed to cater to post-operative patients who require monitoring and care after undergoing various types of anesthesia, including general, regional, and local.

As an RN-PACU nurse, your responsibilities will include administering thorough care through vigilant monitoring, assessment, and timely interventions. Effective communication with the healthcare team regarding any abnormal findings or changes in patient status is essential. Upholding the highest standards of care in the PACU is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients prior to surgical procedures.
  • Verify that all necessary consents are obtained and documented.
  • Regularly monitor PACU patients, assessing vital signs and other critical post-operative indicators.
  • Initiate intravenous lines and provide patients with clear information about their procedures.
  • Review medical histories to identify significant details relevant to patient care.
  • Execute post-operative tasks, including dressing changes and medication administration.
  • Address patient inquiries and ensure their comfort throughout recovery.
  • Monitor for any changes in patient conditions and promptly report findings to the attending physician.
  • Respond to postoperative emergencies with appropriate interventions.
  • Educate patients and their families about home recovery, including dietary and activity restrictions.

As an RN-PACU nurse, collaboration with physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals is crucial to delivering quality patient care.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of recent acute care experience as an RN in a clinical environment.
  • Active RN license in the state of practice.
  • Current certifications as required by the facility.
