Job Summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a member of our educational staff, you will play a vital role in providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for children with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to individual student needs, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging educational experience.
  • Assess and document student progress, maintaining accurate records and files as necessary.
  • Collaborate with administrators, parents, and counselors to develop Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
  • Participate in Treatment Teams to present educational information and provide input on treatment strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, residential counselors, and other team members to ensure seamless communication and problem-solving.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field, with Standard Professional certification in Special Education by the Maryland State Department of Education.
  • Successful completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Children and Residential Experiences (CARE) within 6 months of hire.
  • Effective teaching skills, including knowledge of special education strategies and ability to assess and document information accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
