About Cheryl Jefferson & Associates

A dynamic CPA firm has an opening for an Accounting Associate role. In this position, you will contribute to our team by performing advanced bookkeeping, reconciliations, G/L account analysis, and special projects. Your responsibilities will impact client satisfaction and efficiency within the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed workpapers, analysis, memos, and other documentation to support conclusions
  • Ensure work is error-free and ready for technical review
  • Prepare business tax returns, loan amortization schedules, prepaid schedules, and other financial documents
  • Analyze complex reconciliation issues, prepare adjusting journal entries, and identify problems
  • Collaborate closely with clients to adjust their trial balance and perform month-end closings for outsourced accounting clients
  • Review and edit the work of data entry team members and conduct research on accounting or tax topics
  • Provide accounting and consulting advice to small business clients and assist other team members as needed

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Set up leave, benefits, and deductions with correct taxability, onboard new client employees, and process payroll using an online service
  • Reconcile payroll expense, leave, retirement, and other payroll-related problems, and troubleshoot tax registration and liability issues

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree, 15 credits in accounting, and 3+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll processing are required. Advanced Excel skills and expertise in Business Accounting Systems are highly valued. Proven remote working skills are also essential for success in this role.
