Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome each child upon arrival, ensuring a smooth transition into the school day.
  • Provide a stimulating environment that fosters social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth, tailored to each child's individual needs.
  • Recognize and respond to the interests and needs of children in the class, promoting a sense of belonging and community.
  • Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of each child at all times, adhering to state licensing guidelines and regulations.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing the curriculum and gathering necessary supplies, maintaining a well-organized and efficient learning environment.
  • Participate in rotating responsibilities, such as setting up or putting away playground equipment, and conduct safety checks on equipment, toys, and furniture.
  • Assist with bathroom needs, including diapering, toilet training, and caring for ill or injured children, in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Follow program policies, procedures, and state licensing minimum standard guidelines, maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment.
  • Aid in classroom management, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere for all children and staff.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Attend workshops for Continuing Education as required by state licensing rules, staying up-to-date on best practices in early childhood education.
  • Clean and sanitize toys and surfaces according to established procedures, maintaining a healthy and hygienic environment.
  • Able to lift 30-40 pounds, as required for younger age groups, and conduct activities involving substantial standing, walking, and moderate sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, twisting, and reaching.

Required Attributes:

  • Effectively communicate with young children and adults through oral, written, and electronic means, building strong relationships and trust.
  • Provide a caring environment that encourages each child to grow in independence, developing their unique talents and abilities.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, practicing punctuality and professionalism, and agree to undergo a background check.
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude, enthusiastically promoting the Archdiocese of San Antonio's commitment to early childhood education.
