Job Title: Safety Specialist II

At the University of Texas at Austin, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Specialist II to join our team. As a key member of our Environmental Health and Safety department, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe work environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform safety hygiene assessments and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement controls.
  • Respond to reported safety concerns and conduct accident investigations and safety inspections.
  • Maintain safety-related data and update records on a regular basis.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Respond to incidents, spills, and odor calls, and consult with subject matter experts as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, natural science, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in environmental health and safety or a related field.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience working in a directly related field.
  • Experience working in a university setting within an Environmental Health and Safety department.
  • Work experience with mold, indoor air quality, and/or asbestos.
