Position Overview

HGA, a renowned firm in architecture, engineering, and planning, is on the lookout for a meticulous and seasoned Senior Project Specification Consultant to support our project teams across the nation. This role involves the preparation of intricate project manuals, which encompass technical specifications, bidding requirements, and related documentation. The consultant will ensure that specifications are coordinated with drawings, clients, consultants, and other disciplines to create a comprehensive project manual that meets client expectations and deadlines in alignment with HGA's architectural standards and quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with architectural and engineering team leaders, in-house door hardware specialists, construction administration, cost estimating teams, construction managers, consultants, and clients to prepare construction specifications.
  • Develop and maintain the firm's master guide specifications in accordance with current MasterFormat and CSI standards, including contracting and general requirements.
  • Create schematic design narratives, preliminary project descriptions, and outline specifications for design development.
  • Oversee the coordination of material identification and annotations between drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct research and provide technical assistance in establishing or assessing criteria for material quality and application.
  • Stay updated on evolving systems and materials, collaborating with other specifiers and HGA's Sustainability team to ensure accurate documentation for present and future use.
  • Assist project managers in formulating contractual provisions and administrative procedures for the construction phase of projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or
  • A technical degree in a related field with 15 years of construction experience.
  • Professional registration and/or CCS certification is preferred.
  • Experience on large projects may be accepted in lieu of CCS certification.
  • Diverse project experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Familiarity with VisiSpecs or other current specification-editing software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of CAD/Revit and other graphic programs is desirable.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is aligned with the geographical location of the office. Actual compensation will be determined based on work experience, education, licensure requirements, and skill level. Employees working more than 24 hours a week are eligible for HGA's comprehensive benefits package, which includes an annual bonus, 401(k) contributions, paid parental leave, medical, dental, and life insurance, as well as PTO and disability programs.
