Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Response Specialist to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our Emergency Room department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the collection of lab samples and coordinate patient flow to ensure efficient turn-around times.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests for assistance and answer call lights in a timely manner.
  • Assist with patient transfers and transportation, and assist the Registered Nurse with vital sign collection and notification of significant findings.
  • Support physicians by placing calls to other medical professionals as needed, and assist with gynecology exams and specimen collection.
  • Collect voided urine samples, turn over rooms by cleaning and restocking, and perform messenger services as required.
  • Obtain EKGs for patients in emergent or urgent situations, and perform routine cleaning duties.
  • Answer phones, take and relay messages, and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, or 10 years of work experience, or Certified Nurse Assistant, EMT Basic, or nursing student with completion of fundamentals course.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving patients.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Occasional driving.
Required Professional License and/or Certifications
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
Work Environment

This is a Night Shift position, and the scheduled weekly hours are 24.
