Job Title: Academic Advisor

At Saint Paul's School of Nursing, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic Advisor to join our team. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting students in achieving their academic goals and success.

Job Summary:

The Academic Advisor will provide academic guidance and support to students, helping them navigate the college experience and achieve their academic objectives. This includes providing advice on course selection, degree plans, and academic progress, as well as assisting students with resolving academic issues and concerns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic guidance and support to students, including advising on course selection, degree plans, and academic progress.
  • Assist students with resolving academic issues and concerns, such as transcript requests, academic probation, and SAP issues.
  • Work with instructors to identify student needs for academic support, including tutoring, library assistance, and instructor assistance.
  • Develop and implement student success plans for underperforming students, including monitoring progress and providing services such as coordination of tutoring and time management.
  • Meet regularly with at-risk students to monitor progress and provide services to help eliminate obstacles to academic success.
  • Advise students of school policies and assist students in using available resources, such as academic support services and counseling.
  • Manage student information system data with integrity and security, maintaining confidentiality regarding student affairs and administrative responsibilities.
  • Develop rapport and constructive working relationships with all students and staff, encouraging professional growth and fostering cooperation amongst staff members.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, and a Master's degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Two years of experience working in an online college or higher education setting is required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and email, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Member of the National Academic Advising Association, with outstanding telephone skills and ability to multi-task and succeed within strict timelines.
  • Exemplary level of integrity, with strong detail orientation and organizational skills.
  • Variable hours with some evening and weekend work, with ongoing student focus.
