About the Role

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our Neuro Clinic team at Duke Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and support our medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assist medical and nursing staff with various tasks, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties, such as answering telephones, greeting patients, and updating and filing patient medical records.
  • Assist with laboratory services, including collecting and preparing laboratory specimens and performing basic laboratory tests.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician and authorize drug refills as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service and establish effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is strongly preferred.
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting is required for Level II and III positions.
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA is required.
  • BLS certification is also required.
