Position Overview

The University of New Mexico (UNM) Department of Surgery is actively seeking a Board Certified or Board eligible General Surgery professional for the role of Assistant Professor within the Division of General Surgery. This position includes a collaborative faculty appointment at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA Hospital).

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive general surgery services, contributing to the UNM Resident Education training program, and engaging in clinical education.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Medical Doctor or equivalent degree
  • Board-certified or board-eligible status
  • Eligibility for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy Certification
  • Eligibility for State of New Mexico DEA registration
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant experience in general surgery patient care
  • Interest in clinical education and training
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, along with experience working with diverse communities
