Textile Embroidery Specialist

Under the supervision of the Custom Shop Production Floor Supervisor and the Embroidery Leads, the position of Embroidery Operator is responsible for applying digitized designs onto 5.11 Tactical and third-party apparel and products. This role entails operating both multi-head and single-head embroidery machines, managing product staging, loading the machine with the designated graphic, stitching the design onto the item, and making necessary quality adjustments. A keen attention to detail is essential to exceed customer expectations, while also meeting departmental and individual production goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acquire proficiency in the use of Shopworks software.
- Adhere to all departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Learn or possess experience in various embroidery techniques and applications, including product placement, hooping, backing and solvy selection, thread weight selection, direct embroidery, 3D foam, applique, patch production, trimming, and quality control.
- Familiarize with all 5.11 products and their construction to understand embellishment possibilities and limitations.
- Understand and comply with all FTZ regulations.
- Meet and maintain standard capacity averages according to established production schedules.
- Follow the daily production schedule to ensure timely delivery of customer orders.
- Verify product style, color, and sizing according to the Shopworks work order and attachments; confirm total product quantity and correct design specifications.
- Set up the embroidery machine with the appropriate graphic and correct thread color sequence.
- Efficiently hoop garments.
- Adjust machine speed and thread tension as needed.
- Conduct a pre-production strike-off for every graphic placement, requiring approval from an Embroidery Lead before commencing production.
- Monitor production closely for quality and rectify issues as they arise.
- Trim away backing and loose threads.
- Prepare for subsequent orders in advance.
- Notify the Embroidery Lead of any product shortages.
- Report any machine malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Embroidery Lead.
- Communicate with team members when assistance is required.
- Contribute to solutions that enhance efficiency and troubleshoot issues promptly.
- Record completed orders in Shopworks in real-time.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper operating condition of embroidery equipment daily, assisting with preventive maintenance.
- Support the training of new hires in the Embroidery department.
- Ensure organization and cleanliness of the workspace and equipment.
- Dispose of used needles in designated 'Sharps' containers.
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To excel in this role, candidates must successfully perform each essential duty. The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for this position:
Education and Experience: Previous experience in a cut and sew, screen printing, or embroidery environment is preferred.
Language Skills: Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English instructions is required.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic to complete production records.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written and oral instructions and resolve problems in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Basic computer and keyboard skills are required, with a willingness to learn the company ERP (Dynamics AX) and Shopworks.
Physical Demands: The role requires regular sitting, occasional standing, walking, and reaching. Employees must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and have the vision to discern colors and fine details.
Work Environment: The work environment is typically moderate to noisy.

PAY RANGE: $19.50 per hour plus bonus.
