Position Scope and Organizational Impact
The Project Accountant II at Moss & Associates plays a crucial role in overseeing contracts and agreements related to financial information, as well as preparing and reviewing financial statements for various projects.
This position adheres to Moss' established policies and procedures while promptly communicating any potential profitability concerns or risks to management.
Additionally, the Project Accountant will support the month-end closing process and generate other necessary reports as required.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Review owner contracts, addendums, and exhibits to ensure financial compliance and risk management.
- Interpret and understand the financial requirements outlined in owner contracts.
- Verify the accuracy of PCI entries before posting within CMiC, ensuring correct PCI type usage.
- Maintain the Notice to Owner Log using established enterprise software.
- Review, verify coding, and approve invoices for assigned projects.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable to ensure compliance for timely vendor payments.
- Enter budgets for new or added project phases.
- Manage subcontractor billings and payment flows through Textura, coordinating with the Project Management team.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly submissions to clients.
- Assist in the collection of accounts receivable as needed.
- Monitor and manage all accounts established for the project.
- Prepare documentation for subcontractor check releases and manage lien releases as required.
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll time sheet entries for job sites.
- Submit timely and accurate owner billing reconciliations to job cost.
- Assist the Project Manager with accounting reports and reconcile job cost details for forecasting.
- Oversee the sub-guard program with the risk department to validate contract values and enrolled subcontractors.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and CCIP Coordinator to manage corporate insurance programs.
- Ensure all subcontractors are compliant in coordination with EBIX and the project team.
- Be flexible to travel as needed and work on-site at either the corporate office or project locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in project accounting within a general contracting environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including V-Lookups and Tables.
- Ability to take initiative, work collaboratively, and think independently.
- Strong working knowledge of cost analysis.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential information effectively.
