Title: Pediatric Speech Therapist

Reports to: Program Manager

Department: Early Start

Location: Various locations including clients' homes

FLSA Status: Exempt/B

Compensation: $72,818 - $90,819

Office Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Supervisory Responsibility: None

POSITION SUMMARY

Deliver individualized speech and language therapy to children from birth to three years, provide training for staff, support families, manage cases, and assist in program promotion.

Essential Duties:
  • Assess clients to identify and formulate treatment strategies for speech, language, fluency, articulation, expressive and receptive language challenges, and hearing impairments.
  • Create detailed reports post-evaluation and establish a tailored treatment plan. Discuss evaluation findings and treatment strategies with parents.
  • Offer both in-office and home-based services as required by various contracted organizations. Track client progress and modify services accordingly.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of monthly billing for all therapists to the designated personnel.
  • Maintain accurate scheduling and record-keeping systems.
  • Engage with family members and other professionals involved in the client's care consistently, adhering to all HIPAA regulations.
  • Implement all objectives outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Educate parents on strategies to enhance speech development for both in-office and home therapy clients.
  • Collaborate with multiple agencies regarding referrals, treatment progress, and service termination.
Other Duties
  • May oversee Clinical Fellows (CFYs) and Graduate Student Interns.
  • Adhere to the organization's Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe operation of tools and equipment.
  • Follow organizational policies and procedures, including mandated reporting obligations.
  • Participate in meetings and conferences as necessary.
  • Maintain regular on-site working hours.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Master's Degree in Speech Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related discipline. Current California State License and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Pathology.

Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical experience with children from birth to three years with diverse disorders.

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
  • Exceptional communication skills with a focus on tact and diplomacy.
  • Proactive approach and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to respond promptly to emergencies.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high degree of initiative.
  • Proficient computer skills for report generation.
  • Basic understanding of the roles of other team members.
  • Bilingual abilities preferred (English/Spanish or English/Armenian).
REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid California driver's license, dependable transportation, proof of car insurance, and a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of a DOJ background check.
  • Provide documentation of a negative TB test initially and every three years thereafter.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Retain California License for Speech and Language Pathology.
