Mathematics Tutor

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to serve as a Student Tutor in Math. As a Student Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting students in achieving academic success by providing one-on-one tutoring and guidance in mathematics.

• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA regulations when handling student information.
• Deliver high-quality tutoring services, incorporating study skills and learning strategies to promote independent learning.
• Monitor student progress, ensuring they actively participate in each session.
• Uphold academic integrity by refraining from completing students' homework or take-home quizzes/exams.
• Establish a consistent weekly availability schedule for walk-ins and scheduled appointments.
• Complete and submit all necessary session-related paperwork.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of college services, support, and resources.
• Facilitate learning, serving as a guide and coach to empower students to become successful learners.
• Adjust tutoring methods to accommodate diverse student learning styles.
• Participate in professional development trainings and tutor program orientations.

• Provide a professor's recommendation regarding your level of knowledge in the tutoring content area.
• Have successfully completed the course in the tutoring content area.
• Demonstrate the ability to tutor online from off-campus through Microsoft Teams.
• Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Show empathy towards students facing difficulties.
• Demonstrate self-directedness and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Maintain excellent attendance and time management skills.
• Display above-average creative problem-solving, critical thinking, patience, and decision-making skills.

• Express a genuine interest in helping students develop study skills and adapt to college-level coursework.
• Experience in leadership roles.
• Familiarity with learning styles is a plus.
• Exhibit a high level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
• Be willing to accept supervision and constructive feedback, implementing recommendations for improvement as directed.

• Interview with the hiring supervisor for the position of interest.
• If selected, complete all federal, state, and college employment forms.
• Create a work schedule with your supervisor that does not conflict with your class schedule.
