Job Summary

To support the success of our fleet operations, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fleet Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will assist in providing safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs. Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing and repairing issues to prevent breakdowns on the road, reducing vehicle downtime, and improving overall fleet reliability.

Responsibilities

• Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance under the guidance of experienced technicians to ensure the safety, reliability, and cost efficiency of our fleet vehicles and equipment.

• Conduct FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment, in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

• Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on all fleet vehicles and equipment, following company methods and manufacturer specifications.

• Diagnose and repair issues with vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, and clutches, drive-line, differential, steering and suspension, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust systems, intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems, and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.

• Document all work performed on work orders using a complaint, cause, and correction format.

• Develop efficiency in Sysco computer programs and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training from a 2-year school (preferred)

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• No experience required, but a current and valid driver's license (CDL preferred) is essential.

• Basic knowledge and skill of all vehicle systems and components, as well as diagnosis and repair of electrical systems, welding and cutting, and basic computer skills.

• Technicians must own and provide all necessary tools for the job, with diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by Sysco.

• Regular performance reviews will be conducted to determine areas for improvement and additional training needs.

Working Conditions

• The associate will work in a fast-paced environment with occasional exposure to wet, hot, extreme cold, and/or humid conditions, as well as moving mechanical parts and confined spaces.

• Non-traditional business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts, may be required.

• Occasional travel to other operating companies or the corporate office may be necessary for training, business continuation, or other business needs.

• The associate will be exposed to moderate noise levels and may be required to work in high, precarious places and confined spaces.
