Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ambulatory Care Assistant to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our OBGYN department, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our medical staff in an outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and clinical support to medical staff, ensuring patients' needs are met and the clinic operates efficiently.
  • Assist providers with completing requisitions, forms, and test results, and maintain accurate records.
  • Administer prescribed medication under the supervision of attending providers.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations of specimens, and document results.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments, diagnostic procedures, and patient care activities.
  • Act as a chaperone during medical examinations and ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure high-quality patient services.
  • Generate patient charge data and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification within six months of hire.
  • West Virginia state criminal background check and federal background check (if applicable).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registration or Certification in Medical Assisting.
  • One year of experience as a Medical Assistant or in patient care.
Work Environment

The work environment is a normal clinical outpatient setting, with frequent exposure to biohazards and communicable diseases. The position requires the ability to respond quickly to varying demands from providers and patients.
