Position Summary: As a Precision Machinist at Vatn Systems, you will be integral to the creation and assembly of components for our state-of-the-art underwater vehicles. Collaborating closely with our engineering team, you will manufacture precision parts that are vital for the performance and dependability of our AUVs. This role emphasizes research and development, demanding meticulous attention to detail, exceptional machining skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, innovative setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and maintain both conventional and CNC machining tools, including mills, lathes, and grinders.
  • Weld aluminum components as required.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, utilizing GD&T notation to produce components to precise specifications.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of machined parts through rigorous inspection and quality control processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to provide insights on the manufacturability of parts.
  • Assist in the assembly of our underwater vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust machinery to maintain optimal operational performance.
  • Select appropriate materials and tooling for various projects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience as a Machinist with a solid foundation in precision machining.
  • Expertise in operating and setting up both conventional and CNC machine tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints proficiently.
  • Familiarity with machining techniques and materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Capability to work effectively within a team and meet project deadlines.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software is a plus.
  • A genuine interest in innovative technology and a commitment to contributing to the development of autonomous underwater vehicles.
