Position Summary: As a Machinist at Vatn Systems, you will be integral to the design and fabrication of components essential for our autonomous underwater vehicles. Collaborating closely with our engineering team, you will produce high-precision parts that ensure the operational success and reliability of our systems. This role emphasizes research and development, requiring meticulous attention to detail and adept machining skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, and maintain both conventional and CNC machining tools, including mills, lathes, and grinders.
  • Weld aluminum components as required.
  • Interpret and analyze engineering drawings and blueprints, applying GD&T principles to manufacture components to precise specifications.
  • Conduct inspections and quality control to ensure the accuracy and quality of machined parts.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to assess the manufacturability of components.
  • Assist in the assembly of autonomous vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize machine performance as necessary.
  • Select appropriate materials and tooling for each project.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience as a Machinist with a strong focus on precision machining.
  • Expertise in operating and setting up both conventional and CNC machine tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints accurately.
  • Knowledge of various machining techniques and materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and meet project timelines.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is advantageous.
