Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves the preparation and enhancement of CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting) models specifically for automotive airbag inflator components and assemblies, guided by engineering specifications and marked prints. The position requires a thorough review of drawings to ensure precision in dimensions, completeness of design, compatibility of components, and adherence to established design standards and drafting protocols. Suggestions for design modifications are encouraged to enhance cost efficiency or manufacturability, while also providing support to engineers regarding part design and material specifications, ensuring alignment with fundamental design criteria. Additionally, the role includes maintaining the engineering document database and facilitating access to engineering data, as well as managing drawing release configurations to effectively support engineering change implementations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Review engineering drawings to confirm compliance with ARC drafting standards, customer requirements, and regulatory mandates.
  2. Utilize engineering sketches and data to develop inflator system designs and documentation within the CADD system.
  3. Offer technical insights for design criteria standards and CADD system user guidelines.
  4. Generate detailed drawings derived from solid models.
  5. Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) efficiently.
  6. Execute other job-related tasks as required.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

An Associate degree in mechanical engineering or drafting is required, along with a minimum of five (5) years of CADD experience, including at least three (3) years in mechanical design. A minimum of one (1) year of solid modeling experience is also necessary.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks software is essential.
  • A solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, as well as drafting standards, is required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute within a dynamic team environment.

Equivalent combinations of relevant experience and training that provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
