The City of Pleasanton is in search of dedicated Law Enforcement Officers for its Police Department.

About the Police Department:
The Pleasanton Police Department is devoted to safeguarding lives, deterring criminal activity, and improving the overall quality of life within the community. The department is structured into three main divisions: Operations, Investigations, and Support Services. The Operations Division encompasses patrol duties, the Traffic Unit, and the Alternate Response Unit (ARU). The Investigations Division oversees the Criminal Investigations Unit, Youth and Community Services, Personnel and Training, and the Special Enforcement Unit, along with community outreach initiatives and social media engagement. This division also ensures compliance with Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) through in-service training and certified courses for all sworn and civilian personnel. The Support Services Division manages Dispatch and Records, ensuring effective public records management.

The department provides numerous collateral assignments, including SWAT, K-9, Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), among others.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Applicants must have a US high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Experience in law enforcement and completion of college coursework in criminology, police sciences, or a related field is preferred.

Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 21 years old at the time of appointment.

Certification: A Basic Certificate from P.O.S.T. is required at the time of appointment to Police Officer.

Vision/Hearing: Candidates must have 20/100 uncorrected vision in each eye, correctable to 20/30 or better, normal color vision, and no significant hearing loss.

License: A valid Class C California driver's license and proof of auto liability insurance are required.

Background Investigation: A thorough background investigation must be satisfactorily completed, with no felony convictions.

Pre-Employment Testing: Successful completion of drug screening, medical, psychological, and polygraph examinations is necessary.
