The University of Tulsa is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Academic Technology Strategy to lead the development and implementation of academic and learning technology strategies that align with the university's mission, vision, and goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive academic and learning technology strategy that supports student learning and academic success.
- Manage the selection, acquisition, development, integration, and maintenance of software and applications that support teaching, learning, and research.
- Ensure the security, reliability, performance, and scalability of academic and learning technology software and applications.
- Provide technical support and training to faculty, staff, and students.
- Work with the Henneke center to offer workshops in technology and pedagogical best practice.
- Support individual faculty to incorporate learning technologies to achieve better student learning.
- Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of academic and learning technology software and applications.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends and assess their value for the university.
- Master's degree in educational technology, instructional design, or related field.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in academic and learning technology software and applications development and management, preferably in higher education or similar complex environment.
- Experience with various academic and learning technology platforms, such as Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Team-oriented, excels in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills (both technical and non-technical).
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to multitask effectively and efficiently to successfully perform assignments.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong knowledge of academic and learning technology software and applications development methodologies, tools, and standards.
- Familiarity with cloud computing, web services, mobile applications, and data analytics.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and vendors.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite.
- Doctoral degree in educational technology, instructional design, or related field.
- Proficiency in typing and using a computer keyboard for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to reach for items on shelves or in cabinets.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment, handle files, and perform other tasks.
