Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Optical Network Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for analyzing customer networks, identifying solutions, and planning integration/conversion requirements to meet customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze customer networks to identify solutions and plan integration/conversion requirements
  • Implement upgrades of customer In-Service networks without impacting services provided to end users
  • Create and own Engineering Method of Procedures (EMOP) to support field execution of modernization projects
  • Plan, develop, and execute customer modernization plans for evolving customer networks via the EMOP process
  • Ensure proposed solutions are technically viable, meet customer requirements, and provide maximum benefit to Ciena
  • Deliver and own Network Engineering documentation for customers via the Detailed Network Design service offering
Requirements
  • Technical degree in Engineering or Computer Science or relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Ciena products, particularly 6500, RLS, and Waveserver
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent presentation and customer service skills
  • Strong working technical expertise in optical networking with extensive hands-on experience
  • Excellent systems-level understanding and ability to learn and apply new concepts and technologies quickly
  • Ability to work within a high-performance team
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
