Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team at Lowell Correctional Institution. As a key member of our Maintenance Department, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, as well as food service equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, and food service equipment.
  • Maintain records on refrigerant use and recovery per DEP rules and regulations.
  • Perform technical preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, closed loop systems, and electronic/digital air-conditioning control systems.
  • Install new electronic, pneumatic and/or digital control systems.
  • Diagnose problems with HVAC and closed loop systems.
  • Perform tasks related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, food service equipment, and building preventive maintenance.
  • Plan and organize work to be performed and requisition necessary parts to ensure the proper operation of all electrical systems and equipment.
  • Prepare reports as directed by the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Prepare progress and performance reports for assigned inmates for use by the inmate's classifications team in measuring and determining the rehabilitative progress of the assigned inmate consistent with motivation needs and the development of a positive approach to rehabilitation efforts.
  • Maintain custody and control of inmates assigned under the supervision of the position in accordance with accountability requirements for inmates outlined in operational procedures.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and at least one (1) year of experience in the HVAC Field.
  • Four or more years of experience in the HVAC Field (College or vocational/technical training in one of the above listed trades can substitute for the required experience).
  • A valid Driver's License is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • EPA Refrigerant Certification.
