Position Overview

Role Summary:

The Child and Family Support Coordinator is responsible for delivering extensive services to families and young children within the community, particularly focusing on those with children from birth to five years old. This role involves engaging with parents and children in their home settings, employing a strengths-based approach to foster positive relationships and community integration.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Adhere to Family Support Principles while managing a caseload of 20-25 families.

2. Proactively seek and enroll new families into the program.

3. Conduct a minimum of two home visits each month for every family, concentrating on areas such as child development, parental engagement, health services, and nutritional support.

4. Offer practical, emotional, and social assistance to families through home visits.

5. Collect and maintain data and documentation in accordance with the AIU Data Safeguarding protocols.

6. Complete FAST Assessments for the head of household and all children involved.

7. Establish individual goals for adults and children, as well as a comprehensive family goal plan.

8. Perform child assessments biannually (Ages & Stages).

9. Input data into Synergy, OCDEL data systems, and the Parents as Teachers Penelope Database by designated deadlines.

10. Keep family files updated and organized at all times.

11. Greet and engage with all families, ensuring positive communication.

12. Support families and peers in their journey towards self-sufficiency.

13. Actively engage in resource and referral activities for families and community members.

14. Provide crisis intervention and help families build supportive networks.

15. Organize and facilitate weekly parent support and parent-child interaction groups, including evening sessions to encourage family participation.

16. Foster parent-child bonding among family members.

17. Advocate for families with service providers, school districts, and relevant agencies, maintaining collaborative relationships.

18. Participate in community outreach initiatives.

19. Engage in reciprocal relationships grounded in respect.

20. Assist in the upkeep and maintenance of the center, contributing as a valued member of the family center team.

21. Pursue ongoing training and resources to better serve families and the team.

22. Perform additional duties as necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the program.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1. A Bachelor's degree in education, child development, family relations, social work, or guidance counseling, along with one year of experience working with infants/toddlers and families; or an Associate's degree in the same fields with two years of relevant experience; or a High School diploma/GED with three years of experience in similar roles.

2. Proficiency in current Microsoft Office applications.

3. Strong communication, writing, interpersonal, organizational, and recordkeeping skills are essential.

4. Excellent organizational abilities, initiative, and capacity to work independently.

5. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and function effectively under pressure.

6. Capability to monitor, assess, and interpret program data to ensure high-quality services.

7. Willingness to travel as needed.

8. Compliance with the AIU Conduct policy is mandatory.
