Personal Finance Consultant for Service Members

This role is designed to offer support during urgent, short-term situations arising from military requirements, such as post-deployment events or to substitute for absent counselors. The main duties encompass a comprehensive range of personal financial advisory services for military personnel and their families stationed at military bases. These services include educational initiatives and counseling that may involve, but are not limited to, individualized consultations, collaboration with commanding officers or other professionals, delivering briefings and presentations, or directing participants to external resources beyond the counseling context.

  • Delivers personal financial management and advisory services directly to military personnel and their families.
  • Assists service members in creating a financial plan for extended absences.
  • Develops and distributes informative financial resources for service members and their families.
  • Organizes, promotes, and conducts a diverse array of Personal Financial Management workshops and classes, covering topics relevant to the military lifecycle, including but not limited to, initial duty station arrival, pre- and post-deployment, and significant personal and career events.
  • Responds to inquiries for age-appropriate educational sessions or seminars.
  • Possesses the ability to effectively use virtual counseling or other electronic communication methods, such as secure online chat, video-based communications, and secure video teleconferencing as authorized by the customer.
  • Manages duty-to-warn scenarios in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) protocols.
  • Engages with leadership and participates in regular individual and group supervision, sharing insights regarding trends and challenges at the assigned installations.
  • Participates in ongoing training, quality improvement committees, or other contract-related activities as assigned.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirements

Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree is required.

Consideration may be given to candidates with an associate degree and four years of relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Candidates with a high school diploma and six years of relevant experience may also be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English.

Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 1 investigation is necessary.

Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

A minimum of one thousand hours of financial counseling experience is required.

Salary Minimum:
$45,655

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Actual compensation will be adjusted based on individual skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
