Job Overview

As an Ophthalmic Technician with Midwest Vision Partners, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and support to our team of ophthalmologists. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with diagnostic ophthalmic tests and procedures, ensuring a seamless experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient histories, including medical and family histories, and chief complaints.
  • Perform visual acuity tests, including far and near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
  • Examine patients' eyes for abnormalities and perform other tests and measurements as needed.
  • Apply anesthetizing, dilating, or medicating drops to patients' eyes as required.
  • Measure intraocular pressure and read patients' eyeglass prescriptions using automated lensometry.
  • Chart results in patients' electronic medical records and provide chair-side physician assistance as needed.
  • Prepare necessary paperwork for surgeries ordered by physicians and provide instructions to patients on eye care.
  • E-prescribe or phone in prescriptions for patients and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensure that all necessary supplies and equipment are available and functional for patient care.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more years of experience working in a medical practice.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
